9.5 meter finished diameter horse shoe shaped Power Tunnel including large scale drilling, blasting and excavation in rocks, concrete lining, cement and sand grouting, steel supports and anchor bolting at Chamera, Himachal Pradesh, India.

The work of construction of tunnels at Chamera is fully mechanised using the latest tunnelling equipment including hydraulic drilling and rock bolting jumbos, low profile hydraulic dumpers, shotcreting machines with robot booms etc. The tunnels are being driven in most difficult geological conditions in an area of reverse faulting and thrusts typical of the Himalayan foothills. A milestone of the Project was the Tail Race Tunnel crossing a major river Ravi, 40 M below its bed. This is the largest under-river tunnel crossing anywhere in the Himalayas.
